The Last Days of the Girly Gang

Good Morning everyone!

Here its raining so a perfect day for some crafting... after the housework, washing and cooking :(

I'll just make sure I do the minimum so I have plenty of time to craft :)

 This layout is of my daughter and her friends, taken at the middle school prom.  These girls stuck together like glue! until they went off to high school and made new friends and drifted into new girly gangs!

The original photo was taken with a horrible orange background and really didn't go with the girls' dresses at all, so I cut it away.

I used a brass stencil for the background and inked it with distress inks and brushed over perfect pearls powders for a lovely shimmery girly effect.

I made the flower on the right using lining paper, inked this and powdered it too.

I am entering this into the Artastic Challenge - to use handmade flowers.

Vintage Gorjuss

Good Evening!

I made this little card for the 5th Fashionable Stamping Challenge - Vintage. I have used vintagey colours for this challenge!! lol

I stamped the girl with Distress Ink and then used a wet brush to pull the colour from the edges.

The bunting and the button are Molly Blooms stamps and the flower a freebie from Craft Stamper.

Another pretty easel card

Hi everyone, hope you're having a nice Sunday. I've had a lot of fun making this card! I'm really pleased with the result - maybe I should send it to myself! lol!

I stamped the girl and coloured her in with Distress Inks and then cut her out using an outside of the die technique - which is the challenge on the Little Miss Muffet blog.
I also decided to follow the sketch on the digi doodle shop challenge blog - I had to turn the image around to make it fit though



Frosted Designs are having a colouring challenge this week.

Delightful Sketches want to see some stitching.

your place in the sun - lesson 3

The third lesson is to research the history of your home or area where you live, so I took some old postcards and used copies of them for this layout. My house is just around the corner in the top postcard. I love these cards because the people look so elegant and well dressed - it's certainly very different today!

The background card was stamped with tea dye distress ink. The stamp is made by the English Stamp Company - it makes a nice wallpaper look! I brushed a little bit of watered down white paint over it to soften it.

Do you like my 'roses'? I'm quite pleased with them. I've seen tutorials for flowers where you twist fabric or ribbons and roll them in a spiral, so I thought I would try old dictionary paper and it worked quite well.

Recycled art!!

This door hanger is made from recycled materials that I had lying around. The base is corrugated cardboard - I just stripped off some of the top layer and inked it.

The frame and die cut swirls are cereal box card.

The photo - a leftover from pyramage - the image is a free one from the Internet somewhere.

The flowers and butterflies from handmade paper remnants and pieces of scrap paper.

Some years ago I made a wedding dress for a friend and the pearl trim is leftover from that (I knew it would come in useful one day!).

I must say I am very pleased with this effort! I love shabby chic but feel I have never quite made it.

This is the layout that I am entering into the March challenge for the out of the hat challenge site. The criteria for this was to use 3 different sizes of flower, chipboard and fabric. The fabric I used was used to make dresses for my daughters. But sadly they have outgrown them now. I love the fabric because its so bright and cheerful. The photo was taken at a children's farm near St Martensdijk in Holland, it was such a hot summery day - lovely!!
