steampunk 18th Birthday Card

This is the card I made for my daughter's 18th birthday - she is quite into Steampunk at the moment.
The 18 was cut on the cricut and embossed and alcohol inks in browns for an aged effect.
I also cut the cogs on the cricut.

The steampunk lady is a free clip art.  I did follow the blog its from when I nabbed the clipart but somehow it didn't work.  So I will have to search again for it - he also had some other nice clipart to use for free.

I would like to enter this into the Top Tip Tuesday challenge 'kids and teens'

Autumn Thank you card

I have made this card for the less is more Autumn challenge and also for the CAS-ual Fridays over the edge challenge.

I used a free stamp from craft stamper magazine to make the leaves and embossed them in different colours.
The very large brad is from an old handbag that was going in the bin, so I pulled bits off it (well I am a crafter! these bits will come in useful one day!)

We Love Molly Coggles!

From Screen to Scrap's inspirational poster this month is from the film 'a tree grows in Brooklyn'
The criteria to be used were to include a tree, some leaves and use a black and white photo.
This photo is of one of our guinea pigs - Molly Coggles!
As Molly is a ginger pig browns on the page were the only way to go.
I used a svg cut for the tree and also cut out the title on my cricut.

I also used a sketch from Sketchbook 365 to make a start on this layout.

The Last Days of the Girly Gang

Good Morning everyone!
Here its raining so a perfect day for some crafting... after the housework, washing and cooking :(
I'll just make sure I do the minimum so I have plenty of time to craft :)

This layout is of my daughter and her friends, taken at the middle school prom.  These girls stuck together like glue! until they went off to high school and made new friends and drifted into new girly gangs!
The original photo was taken with a horrible orange background and really didn't go with the girls' dresses at all, so I cut it away.
I used a brass stencil for the background and inked it with distress inks and brushed over perfect pearls powders for a lovely shimmery girly effect.
I made the flower on the right using lining paper, inked this and powdered it too.

Thanks very much for visiting me!

Butterfly stamped card

Hello,

This is my second offering for today.

I inked and stamped some cheap photo paper - the stars and butterfly are free stamps from Craft Stamper magazine.
I painted the butterfly with perfect pearls and clear embossed over the top.

I have found a new challenge site called Tuesday Alchemy and they are having an anything goes challenge.  The stampman have changed their challenges to once a month and their challenge is Birds, Butterflies and Bees.
Top Tip Tuesday allow up to 3 entries for their challenge so I would like to enter this one in their Things with Wings challenge.

Thank you so much for visiting and I do love to read your comments!

Autumn/Fall tag pop up

This is made from two tags joined together at the bottom, so the tree pops up as you open them.

The tree is a svg cut I found somewhere but cant remember where from.  I coloured the tree with promarkers and heat embossed the hearts with red tinsel.

The moon is from a Retro Cafe Art Gallery graphics sheet.

The leaves and tags are from a HOTP 4308 book that I won some time ago.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

Frilly and Funky - use a tag in a different way and the theme of fall

Crafty Creations Challenge - Fallhttp://craftycreationschallenges.blogspot.co.uk/

Well, that's it for this evening I think

Quoth the Raven, Nevermore - anything Poes!!

 Happy Sunday!
I love these tag pull cards - they are fun to make!
I put 'do not pull' on the pull tab because I know if you see that then you just have to pull!!! lol!!
like in our local museum there is a red button on a barrel that says'do not press' and what do you do but tentatively give it a little push!! nothing nasty happens but the barrel laughs!
Retro Art Cafe Gallery have a freebie sheet for download and some of these images are from it.
I did lots of stamping all over and coloured the eyes in with green perfect pearls for a nice ghoulish effect.
I would like to enter this card into the Quoth the Raven - Anything Poe's challenge
The quote I have used is 'where there is no imagination there is no horror!'

Bye for now

lovey dovey no.2

This card has one of my favourite stamps on - the loving couple are by Oxford Impressions stamps.

The back ground paper has also been stamped with words and a few 'Frenchy' stamps

I have found a new Vintage challenge site called Vintage Stamping Challenges and they are having an anything goes challenge.

Also It's All About the Vintage are having a nice challenge - Brown tones.

Have a lovely evening.

lovey dovey

Hi, this is the card I made for the Less is More Love and Marriage challenge.
The pigeon and dove are decoupaged and the sentiment says, 'you two are perfect'.
the insert is stencilled with roses along the bottom.
Dutch Dare Card Challenges have a clean and simple challenge this week too - I haven't entered one of their challenges for a while.

Frosted Designs - embossing challenge

Good morning!

I made this Tilda card for the frosted designs - friday challenge which was to include some embossing.  The background card is in fact an old Easter egg box; the colour inside is perfect for vintage cards.  The star die cuts are also embossed with copper and gold powders.  The top one with 'vanilla' powder - it smells really wonderful!!! Vanilla is definitely my favourite taste.

Will be posting some more stuff soon, having a great crafting weekend!!!

altered pages challenges

 Hello,

Altered Pages Challenges have a challenge to make a headdress!  So I came up with a steampunky style fascinator.
I thought the bottom curly bit looked a bit like a moustache so I stamped eyes in the pocket watches to make a face.

Here, the fascinator modelled by my daughter.

Out There Festival 2012

Here are a few photos from last weekend's Out there Festival -
a festival of street circus acts.
The first two photos are of Close Act - a Dutch act that specialise in doing things on stilts!!
They also walked around as insects

This act Les Studio de Cirque did some amazing stunts on their Wheel of Death.

They were so good we saw their show 4 times!

Now all I have to do is scrap some of these great photos!!

Bye for now

Screen 2 Scrap - Villa Volta

Hi everyone, on this windy Sunday.  It certainly feels like the first day of Autumn now, the sun is low its windy and there's a chill in the air :(  Time to get out the scarves and gloves!

Screen to scrap's challenge this month is to make a layout with the poster of Last House on the left as inspiration.  A house must feature somewhere so I made this the photo.
I did lots of stamping and embossing with gold and copper powders.

The story of this house is that it belonged to the leader of a band of thieves called Hugo Van Der Loonsch-duinen and (in short) he did some really bad things and is imprisoned in the house for eternity.
The walls of the house turn and make you feel as if you are upside-down; not a good idea to go on this ride if you have just eaten chips and mayonnaise!!!

Its all about the vintage - love

Its all about the Vintage are having a 'love' challenge.

I made this 'lovely' easel card for the challenge.  I embossed the edges with roses using a brass stencil and light box (haven't used that for a long time!! since I bought my cuttlebug)

The butterflies were cut on the cricut and painted with perfect pearls powder.

The lovely couple are from Oxford Impressions Paris plate.

Have a good evening

Dragon Tales - Skyrim

Smudgy antics current challenge is called
Dragon Tales
I thought a Skyrim card would be perfect.  My son plays this game on his xbox all the time and there are lots of dragons in it too!
I used a map of Skyrim as the background and coloured the dragon with Promarkers.
The eyes are red glitter glue and in the corners used cosmic shimmer bronze pva for the 'brads'.

Going Buggy is having a girly challenge - you must make a girly card with a girly icon on it.
I hope my lady with the hat fits!
I coloured her face with promarkers and paper pieced the hat and collar.
She is a stamp that came free with a magazine.

The frame and swirls are dies by Leane Creatief.  I cut it out using coredinations card.

Less is More!!!

Hope you are having a lovely restful Sunday,
the weather has been lovely here today, so good in fact, we took a little walk along the beach to the ice-cream van at the harbour!! It was very nice too :)

I am really getting into these less is more challenges - I think they take a lot more thought than the 'pile it on' cards!!
The challenge is to make a one layer card with fur or feathers on it.  I think I did quite well because my daughter ran her finger over it to check it really was one layer! :)

I have found that DL card blanks are really good to use for clean and simple cards - not too much space to use.
First, I stamped the bird (from my new stamp set - bird script, by Papermania)
Then masked it and stamped the music over the top.
I then masked the top and bottom with post it notes and used distress inks to colour the band across the card.
I dabbed black around the edges of the bird to lift it off the background a bit.
Lastly, I used a thin black pen to do wiggly lines top and bottom a la Barbara Gray!! lol!

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Less is more - blue and green challenge

When I saw the less is more challenge is blue and green it had to be the Dutch houses with green doors.  A lot of the houses have very dark green houses and window frames.

Tilda with Tulips

I love this Tilda stamp - it's my latest acquisition.
I coloured her using Promarkers and also used them to colour the leaves and branches.
The bird and the leaves are a Marianne die.

I would like to enter this into the
Sir Stampalot - crafty passion - my passion has to be stamping and colouring, I don't think I can make a card or layout without some stamping on it.

Tilda with Ladybird

One of my favourite Tilda stamps
I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

less is more - Gold

This is my entry for the Less is More challenge - gold.
Less is more is really quite difficult - I just want to put more things on but I must stop!!
I've tried quite hard to keep some 'white space' not sure if I have really achieved it but I did try!! lol!
I stamped the flowers and gold embossed them and also the flourishes.

Fashionable Stamping Challenges - Oriental

Hi everyone,
I love making oriental cards.
The panel on the card is ATC sized; I stamped some clouds and coloured them in with white gel pen.  The kimono is stamped onto glossy paper and coloured with ink and gel pen.
I stitched two lines down the side and put 2 'lucky' coins at the end.

Artastic - Insects challenge

Hi everyone,
Artastic are having an insect challenge - I managed to put a prehistoric dragonfly on the layout.
This is a double layout I made of our visit to the Dinosaur Park just outside Norwich a few years ago
I just can't work out how to move the pictures around, so I'm sorry they are not in the right order.

I printed out clip art of the dragonfly and then painted it with glaze.
I had a lot of photos to show so made a little booklet under the big dinosaur.
